Qualified Agricultural Mechanic

Due to continued expansion Tom Shaw Farm Machinery Ltd have a vacancy for a Qualified Agricultural Mechanic. This offers a great opportunity to the right candidate to enhance their expertise in the field of Agricultural Mechanisation.

The successful candidate will gain invaluable knowledge and skills with Same Deutz-Fahr Tractors, Krone, McHale & Amazone equipment and Krone BiG Line equipment.

We are looking for someone who is

  • Qualified in Agricultural Mechanics
  • Enthusiastic about working as a team player in a busy environment
  • Who has experience with tractors and farm machinery – operating & repairing
  • Wanting to further their knowledge in this field and progress as a mechanic
  • Willing to work in our purpose-built workshop & in the field
  • Willing to be on call out of hours and provide an excellent back up service to customers
  • Punctual and experienced in IT
  • Who is willing to work to a high standard and show pride in their work
  • Who wants to learn new skills and progress with leading brands in the farm machinery sector

You will be responsible for

  • Diagnosing faults both in the workshop and in the field
  • Getting through your daily/ weekly job schedule efficiently
  • Keeping your workshop area in a tidy and safe manner
  • Assembly & PDI of new machinery – ensuring it is assembled and fitted to a high standard
  • Tidy upkeep of workshop tools & diagnostic equipment as well as your service van

Apprentice Agricultural Mechanic

The successful candidate will learn all the skills needed to keep modern day farm machinery in perfect working order.

We are looking for someone who is

You will be responsible for

  • Preparation of used machinery for sale i.e., servicing used grass machinery
  • Keeping your workshop area in a tidy and safe manner
  • Getting through your daily/ weekly job schedule efficiently
  • Helping and assisting qualified mechanics with other various tasks and learning from them.

Workshop Administrator

This is a senior position open to experienced workshop administrators in the agricultural machinery or motor industries or ambitious graduates wishing to forge a career in this challenging environment.

The Successful Candidate will;


• Have overall responsibility for the administration of a busy workshop.
• Preferably have knowledge of and experience with tractors and farm machinery.
• Be prepared to work flexible hours during the busy summer season.
• Be able to manage staff.
Skills required;
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent computer skills
• Have attention to detail.
• Good organisational skills
• Punctuality
• Ability to use own initiative and work as a team member


The Successful Candidate will;


• Be responsible for all aspects of the administration of a busy workshop.
• Scheduling of jobs in the workshop in conjunction with the Lead Technician
• Scheduling of field service jobs in conjunction with the Lead Technician
• Ordering parts for jobs from the stores department
• Issuing parts to workshop & field service jobs
• Returning surplus parts to stores.
• Ensuring that labour is correctly charged to each job
• Raising sales invoices to customers on a timely basis
• Taking payments from customers
• Preparing warranty claims on suppliers & following up until payment is received
• Liaise with other stores & workshop staff to ensure that the parts & workshop departments runs smoothly and efficiently.


An excellent salary will be paid to the successful candidate.


The position will report to the Service Manager.
